School Visits
Helpful hints to make the most of your visit!!!
Please share with the teachers:
1) Please have a copy of all books; L is for lobster: A Maine Alphabet, Fishing for Numbers: A Maine Number Book, M is for Mayflower: A Massachusetts Alphabet, One if by Land: A Massachusetts Number Book, and P is for Passport: A World Alphabet available through the classroom or school library prior to my visit. Familiarize the children to the book by reading it to them (often just reading the poems is plenty!) and discussing what an author and illustrator is before my visit. This will help build their excitement and interest for my visit!
2) Please have the children think of questions to ask me. This should be done ahead of time. You could even brainstorm a class list of questions and have the children take turns asking them on the day of the visit. Whatever works best for your class.
3) Please have the classroom teacher or volunteer attend each presentation. They need to be available to keep the children directed if needed and will help direct the Q & A time (which is necessary since I will be drawing much of the same time I am answering questions).
Thank you for helping make my visit a great success!!!
